Coconut Rice dumplings is similar to Idlis but easy to make and needs no fermentation. Tempering of urad dal, mustard and curry leaves gives this dumplings unique taste.
So if you are looking out for quick tasty healthy steamed food breakfast or snack go for this.
- In a pan, add 3 tbsp coconut oil, 1 tbsp mustard seed, 1/4 tbsp fenugreek, 1 tbsp urad daal, 3 slit green chillies and 5 curry leaves.
- When it starts popping add 1 cup idli rava, fry for 4 minutes. Add salt, 1/2 cup grated coconut and 3 cups boiling water. Stir and close the lid. Cook until it is completely cooked.
- Let it cool a bit and then form round small dumpling balls . Grease a cooker vessel and lineup dumplings. Steam for 15 minutes.
- Serve hot dumplings with coconut chutney.
